New Hope Farm and Gardens is a working farm where you can experience the sights, sounds and smells of a family farm. Providing learning opportunities for families, schools church groups and early-learning facilities, to realize the benefits of homesteading. See the vegetable gardens, together with such novelty crops as broom corn, popcorn and peanuts. Fiber animals, such as angora goats and rabbits, give visitors an understanding into the fiber produced, spun, and knitted for garments. Special shearing dates, broom making and picking seeds give the visitor hands-on experiences. Finally, experience the bird and wildlife habitat.
Directions: From Main Street, Walhalla (Hwy. 28), turn onto Route 183 west towards Westminster. Go 9/10th of a mile, turn right onto Flat Rock Road. Bear right at the fork in the road and continue on Flat Rock Road. After crossing the creek bridge, New Hope Farm is the first driveway on the left.

The South Carolina Botanical Garden, off Perimeter Road at highway 76, is a diverse 295-acre garden of natural and manicured landscapes within the SC Piedmont ecosystem. Together, with a nationally recognized nature-based sculptured collection, distinguished youth education and outreach programs, and a Geology Museum, the SCBG us a premier site for experiencing nature and culture. The garden is home to an official American Hosta Society Display Garden, a 40-acre arboretum, miles of nature trails and streams, a butterfly garden, wildflower meadow, and is home to over 400 varieties of camellias.
Directions: Located on the Clemson University Campus; from Interstate 85 exit 19-B (Highway76/28) travel 9 miles west to Clemson. Turn left on Perimeter Road and the Garden’s main entrance is approximately .5 miles on the left. |
